The beautiful Volvo Penta D8, well known to marine professionals thanks of hi-speed versions – now goes R1 and R2.
Generally, Volvo and Volvo Penta project of introduction of the new diesel engines platform volume 5 and 8 liters became very successful – engines with “common rail” fuel injection system was introduced first for industrial use, after – in its high-speed reincarnation for motorboats– now for marine commercial R1 and R2.
Volvo Penta D8 is well known in Ukraine – first was tractors of “Agrotorgova Komaniiia” from Mykolaiv, than Kharkiv`s “Slobojanets”, after – marine – 45,5 knots from one of the leading shipbuilders of Ukraine – all are happy with available power, low noise levels, low fuel consumption, reliability, so on.

Marine Commercial R1 and R2 – “slightly” different – it is mean – shipowner can push engines 100% without time limitations, or – at R2 – with 10 % step back in throttle – time to time.
7 (SEVEN ! ) different power settings – 154 to 313 kW at 1800-2200 rpm – you can get an engine which is perfectly matched to shipowner needs.
In the end – torque: 938-1536 Nm!
